Benedict S. Maniscalco MD
Chairman
Dr. Benedict Maniscalco has been in the private practice of medicine, specializing in cardiovascular diseases since 1976.
He serves as the chairman and CEO of Heartbeat International, a philanthropic organization providing permanent pacemakers and other cardiac devices to the indigent population of the world. Heartbeat International currently operates in 28 countries and 46 cities internationally.
Dr. Maniscalco continues his practice of preventive and consultative cardiology, in addition to serving as medical advisor to multiple companies involved in medically related business.
He is regarded as an opinion leader, innovator, and educator in cardiovascular medicine. He has served the American College of Cardiology at the local, state, and national level in leadership roles which have directly influenced health care policy.
Dr. Maniscalco is a graduate of Duke University School of Medicine and obtained his post graduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease at Emory University affiliated hospitals. After leaving a faculty position at the University of South Florida School of Medicine, he founded the St. Joseph’s Heart Institution in Tampa, FL. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Heart Association and a fellow of the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Society for Cardiac Angioplasty.
Alan J. Iezzi, M.D.

Alan J. Iezzi MD: Member of the Lancet board: Dr. Iezzi is the founder and President of ASTAT Practice Management, Inc. and the Chief Medical Officer for Patient Directed Care, Inc. Concurrent in his role with PDC and ASTAT, Dr. Iezzi operates a successful family practice in Tampa, FL since 1986. Dr. Iezzi has extensive experience in the business of healthcare and understands the needs of physicians concerning liability coverage and understands the risk management issues from the insurance side. He has held Professional Memberships in the American College of Physician Executives, American Medical Society, Society of Family Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Anthony F. Maniscalco

Mr. Maniscalco a co-founder of MGSI and a 1975 graduate of the University of South Florida. Mr. Maniscalco has twenty six years’ experience in running nationwide medical practice management companies with medical receivables and collections on behalf of our Clients exceeding $300 million annually. Mr. Maniscalco has also served as Vice Chairman of the Board of First Bank & Trust Company; an FDIC insured state and federal chartered commercial bank, CEO of First Banc Mortgage Corporation that had annual loan originations in excess of $35 million dollars and also has served as COO of two Healthcare Technology Companies with annual revenues in excess of $60 million. Mr. Maniscalco has also participated in the acquisition, development, management and sale of over $150 million of real estate projects. Mr. Maniscalco also now serves as COO and is a board member of Lancet Indemnity, RRG.
William Luria MD
Director
Leonard William Luria, M.D. is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who has been in private practice in Tampa, Florida for the past 22 years. Dr. Luria is a graduate of Hobart College in Geneva N.Y. 1970, and received his M.D. degree from Far Eastern University in Manila 1975. He did an internship at Coney Island Hospital affiliated with Maimonides Medical Center and Down State Medical Center in New York. He went on to complete general surgery and plastic surgery residency training at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY which is part of the Upstate Medical Center. The training in Buffalo included rotations at Buffalo Children’s Hospital, Buffalo V.A. Hospital and a breast surgery training at Roswell Park Memorial Institute.
Dr. Luria was involved in primary cancer research at Roswell Park, Mt. Sinai Hospital’s Radiation Oncology Department in New York City, and at the Univ. of South Florida’s Dept. of Surgery. He has been on the faculty of both Upstate Medical Center and University of South Florida’s Department of Surgery, teaching both medical students and residents. As a full time faculty member and on the clinical facility, he has also been a speaker in the Department of Social Services and School of Public Health at USF.
Dr. Luria has authored several chapters in medical text books and has authored over 15 peer reviewed articles in journals, such as the Journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Key Issues in Plastic Surgery, The Journal of the Florida Medical Association, and the Mosby Year book. He has been the editor of the Hillsborough County Medical Society’s Monthly Journal and an editor and contributor for the journal of Florida Medical Association.
He was the President of the Florida Society of Plastic Surgery and has been the President of the Board of Health Care Risk Management. Presently he is the President of Lancet Indemnity, RRG, and the Medical Director for One Unlimited, Inc. He serves on several other Boards including the Life Center of Tampa.
Over the past 10 years, while medical director for One Unlimited, Inc. he has been working with Fred Runnels of Beta Labs, a leader in cosmetics over the last 5 decades, and Walter Dandliker, the past chairman of the Department of Biochemistry at Scripps Clinic Laboratories. Together they have created a new family of unique silicones designed for medical, cosmetic, industrial, or construction industries. During this period he has maintained his private surgical practice in the Tampa Bay area and his involvement in lecturing at regional and international meetings. Dr Luria has also continued to be a leader within his state and National specialty societies.

A Backus & Associates principal since 2000 (renamed Backus Payne in 2004), Mark had been a Backus solicitor—full- or part-time—since 1993. Mark served as a Medical Protective General Agent from 1980 through 1984 and has nine years of District and Regional Management experience in the hospital supply and medical devices industries. Mark was elected to the Rochester Hills, Michigan City Council, At Large, in November 2011. Licenses: Michigan Property & Casualty, Michigan Life & Health, Michigan Surplus Lines.
Robert Menendez

Robert Menendez is a Tampa, Florida native and businessman with over thirty-five years experience in international business. Mr. Menendez has been a licensed Customs Broker (license#5544) since 1977. He was the co-owner of Sack & Menendez, Inc., a customs brokerage and freight forwarding company headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Professional affiliations include the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA), Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association (FCBF), past secretary of the Tampa Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association. Mr. Menendez has been married to his wife Jeri for thirty years and they have three sons together.
Eric Springall
Director
Eric Springall served as Vice President and managing partner of Orgill/Singer for 12 years before becoming the company’s President and owner with David Dahan in June 2001. He entered the insurance industry in 1979 and his broad experience in underwriting, sales and service of insurance has contributed to his visionary leadership of the agency.
Dedicated to his industry and community, Springall has served on the Presidents’ Council for Physicians Insurance Company of Wisconsin (member of ProAssurance) since 1998 and was the 2006-2007 President. He was personally recognized for his leadership and dedication in defending the practice of medicine during the two years of his term. Orgill/Singer was the Agency of the Year in 2005. He also served on the Safeco Insurance Broker Advisory Committee for the State of Nevada and the Southwest Region of the United States. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Advisors for the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. Springall is a member of various organizations and charities in Las Vegas and actively participates in various community and church projects across Southern Nevada.
Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Springall has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1963 and attended the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he studied math and science.
Springall has extensive experience in a wide array of insurance products and services, including property, casualty, surety, surplus lines brokerage, life, health, disability and variable lite and annuity. His insurance career has included extensive experience in the field of professional liability and he is recognized as an expert in the medical professional liability field. He was a key professional liability producer with the St. Paul Medical Services Division. Previously to joining Orgill/Singer, he was a regional company representative for The Doctors Life insurance Company and for The Doctors Company.

For the past thirty years, Sam has used his exceptional organizational skills, training of personnel, and strong leadership to insure the continued success of mortgage loan departments for various banks in the United States. In July, 2000, his expertise in new business development successfully formed and built First Banc Mortgage Corporation to become a competitive force in the mortgage lending industry in Florida.
Sam has a B.S. Degree from the University of Tampa, an M.A. from Western Kentucky University, and is a corporate officer and director of policyholder financial services for Lancet RRG.
